The day of remembrance of the day our Lord and Master Shree Sat Chit Anand Satguru Sai Nath Maharaj of Shirdi dropped His body was scheduled on the 15^th of October 2016.

The food distribution to the poor, the cows, birds and dogs was done at individual levels on Dussehra day (11^th of October 2016) as well as on the 15^th of October morning with great enthusiasm by the Sai Baba and Meher Baba devotees. 

Baba had in His lifetime had often said that if we want to find Him, we would find Him amongst those who were being fed.

All the highly enthusiastic volunteers reported at the venue for the set up at 2 pm. Geetah Subhra proceeded to decorate the altar with diyas and flowers to receive the Masters. Shrawanti and her friends went about decorating the entrance, the stairway and the hall with colourful patterns of Rangoli which was appreciated. Sunder and his team hung up the lights, laid the carpets and set up the seating arrangements.

The evening rogramme started at 5.30 pm as per the schedule with the Aartis in Hindi as well as in Marathi, which are sung at the Samadhi of our beloved Master Sai Baba in Shirdi. As Meher Baba was always very high on punctuality, extra efforts are made to ensure that all events start on time as per the schedule as  because it is undersatood that it is the appointment we have with our Masters.

This artis were followed by THE UNIVERSAL PRAYER which is also known as the           “O Parvardigar” or “The Master’s Prayer.” that Meher Baba had dictated in 1953.

This prayer given to us by the Master Himself and is known as the Universal Prayer as it holds the Truth of the Universe and can be recited by one and all regardless of religious beliefs or faiths that one belonged to.

The Universal Prayer was followed by the Prayer of Repentance, which was dictated by Meher Baba in 1952. This prayer also has a universal application.

In 1959 Meher Baba had dictated a prayer for Baba Lovers. All, especially the children whom Baba loves very much, recited this prayer with the spirit of Oneness with the Lord, which everyone experienced.

Meher Baba’s Gujarati arti ‘Bhoojaway Nar Jahletni’ was sung by Zahra from Meherabad with great devotion. Everyone joined in and felt like nightingales.

Nisha Shivdasani and her musicians initiated the bhajans singing session. Her voice is extremely melodious and the singing so soulful, that promptly everyone was in a meditative mode.

Zahra, our Iranian Meher Baba lover had specially driven in from Meherabad to sing for our Masters. She sang a few bhajans especially The Seven Names of God given to us by Meher Baba and the children also joined in.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    The lyrics of the same are Hari Parmatama Allah Ahuramazda God Yezdan Hu. (The Sufis address God as ‘HU’ and is one of the names of God) This song has a great spiritual significance and has an interesting history attached to it. If sung with devotion and mindfulness it can transport the singer and the listener to a totally different realm. 

The singing session ended with the soulful continuous chant of Sai Baba and finally with the all time favourite arti Om Jai Jagadish Hare that is sung first thing in the Shirdi temple at 4 am first thing in the morning when the temple opens for the day.

The programme ended with a sumptuous langar and prasadam of delicious food offered / prepared by the devotees with hearts full of love for our benevolent and compassionate Masters. All went home happy with mind body and soul fulfilled after spending a gratified evening connecting with the Masters. It was truly a great experience and an evening to remember…
